"Brendan O'Keefe is one of those restless, energizing souls who makes things happen wherever he goes. He is an ideas machine with the capacity and skills to deliver the goods. "Brendan was most helpful with so many great ideas when we were developing several websites for our programs within youth homelessness. Brendan also was instrumental in supporting us to set up a SMS system to assist us to remain in contact with our clients. This was a very unique idea and when the system was up & running was considered one of the most successful tools we used to stay in touch with clients. Across the world, mobile phone technologies are proving to be a key tool for those working for social change. Young people and the organisations that support them face important issues today and need solutions to enable ease of access to services.
Txter Assist is a powerful solution and addesses the issue of access to service infromation.
TxTer Assist works via keyword commands which you send to a dedicated mobile number. automated service enables young people to make informed choices and access free youth services & hotlines in a communication channel that suits them.
The system is loaded with issue based keywords which represent current life situations which are important to young people. Keywords automatically trigger software where an appropriate response message which contains the contact information for a relevant service or helpline is instantly sent to the person's phone, so seeking help is only a click or two away.
A single mobile access point to important community service information and particularly youth specific content such as health, legal, education, employment and training is what young people need.
3 methods of accessing these directories are available via SMS, WAP and Mobile Internet.

Ideathon is a marathon ideation event with a fundraising aspect. A Cross-pollination of idea generation and fundraising. A typical ideathon runs 7-60 days. Ideas are managed via a feature rich collaborative online brainstorming platform that allows anyone to submit solutions and collaborate on ideas which may benefit the host organisation and society.
Part idea generation, part team building, part community building, part fund-raising, part awareness building, the ideathon brings together many perspectives and positive elements to make one great event.
In the spirit of other sponsored marathon events such as MS Readathon, Spellathons and Walkathons, the ideathon enables organisations to engage a wider audience in a fund-raising campaign with a twist. In this case, sponsors support individuals and teams by donating an amount for each idea generated and each evaluated idea which is submitted to the site on behalf of the team.
The latest idea generation and creative thinking skills are taught as as part of this enjoyable event and participants learn to work as a team.

An open collaboration to create an open source kit with ideation and innovation resources for NGO's.
The plain white box (the kit) contains everything you can imagine you need to generate, refine and evaluate ideas. With this in mind the box is vast and the space contained within breaks away from the volume we have come to understand in a box....
A mobile version will be available to those working in the field or in remote areas.
This is a crowdsourced ebook. I invite you to submit content for a fresh new project called The Brainstorming Kit. Version 1.0 has a release date of July 1 2010.
The ebook kit will be always be free and upgraded once or twice a year. It's an evolutionary product and it's a gift of creativity to all. If we develop a hard copy in the future, all profits will go to a charity voted on by all the contributors and authors. Perhaps in the future a business version, a community building version and an education version of the kit would be appropriate? What do you think? Any ideas you'd like to freely contribute at this stage?
